Thanks for the comments Savo. I thoroughly enjoyed your book! I can only begin to imagine the gloom that can overshroud a 2 year imprisonment in your own city, your own home. Bosnia really does strike me as the showcase for the absolute high and low-points of humanity.

Good luck for your book's launch. I hope it's a huge success!

John,

Thank you very much for your review!

I'm glad that you decided to discuss the issue of the international organizations that were supposed to help ordinary people but often did not. There are so many conflicts around the world and so many people depend on the UN, the International Red Cross, and other humanitarian organizations. When they refuse to help, that's when the real despair hits. My family was lucky to survive, but many in Bosnia, Rwanda, and all other conflicts around the world were not so lucky.

Emil, you are right - the UN needs major reforms in order to have any significance in today's world.

Thanks for this reference. I will find it and read.

I also observe the UN's failure and what I seriously believe to be gross human rights violations on the UN's part for failing to act in Ruwanda. Standing by while Ruwandians are hacked to pieces literary outside the UN compounds is an autrocity similar to the death camps of Nazi Germany. I am reminded of what Albert Einstein and Edmund Burke said: "The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing" and "All that is necessary for evil to succeed is that good men do nothing."
Sadly, the UN in Bosnia and Ruwanda failed in their mission as defined post-1945, and as such, like with Iraq, irrevocably demonstrated their insignificance in modern world politics.

I am glad that Heleta survived to tell this story.
