I take a certain amount of delight in the news that Tom Cruise has walked away from been fired by Paramount Pictures. It’s somehow comforting to know that even a “powerful” movie star with hundreds of millions of dollars at his disposal cannot insulate himself from nasty repercussions when he chooses to become a front-man for an insidious, avaricious and indeed borderline-criminal religious cult. There are still some things right with the world, it seems.
Paramount Pictures can probably hire lawyers at least as good as the Church of Scientology, but not everyone has the resources they do…
It’s concerning. Tom can probably press charges for dismissal on the grounds of his religious beliefs. That would be bad.
Or he can use his supernatural powers (i believe he is on one of the highest levels of scientology and can control the minds of those around him – but he only uses this power if he really has to) to just make everything better.
As I take it, they simply didn’t renew his contract (the equivalent of firing, though it obviously might’ve been different had they terminated the contract due to a breach) which they’re fully entitled to do. So Cruise can’t sue on the grounds of “being let go” or anything.
He must be even more bizarre in person than the media has been able to portray of late since I imagine it’d take a great deal before any studio would let go of an actor who has raked it in consistently for them.
I just hope his career carries on going downward from here.
The only reason Tom was let go is because having him (and his production company) no longer makes business sense. What’s the point of hiring the most costliest star to make you o.k. money. Furthermore, his recent antics are costing them money and draining their stock price. He is becoming a liability that is on a $10million/yr retainer.
Maybe someone finally noticed that TC only has three upper incisors?

Commentary.co.za is a fantastically well-written site with an indepth insight into South African politics. If you want the lowdown on what's happening in the corridors of power, this is the place to read it. These guys know their stuff.
