Reliving The Past

For my grandfather’s 80th birthday, we arranged a flight for him in a Tiger Moth from Rand Airport. Turns out it was his first flight in one since 1950, so he was pretty emotional about it.

Good photo. It contrasts the open sky with the Tiger Moth aiming to fly into it.
Thanks. I’m not too happy with what seems to be a haze line over the bottom half of the picture, but I guess it worked out better than I initally expected when taking the photo.
A Tiger Moth went down over the weekend (Durbanville/CT). Crashed into Eskom lines.
What an awesome birthday present.
I agree Steve….great birthday present indeed.
Yep. Unfortunately I can’t claim the idea was mine this time, though I was thinking of something similar (a flight in the DC-3).
It was great though, after the initial emotion, he was grinning from ear to ear continuously, and was more energetic than I’ve seen him in years. He even got to wear one of this vintage flying helmets, which was nice.
