It’s a pretty speech. But when it comes to women abuse, the president sometimes seems a bit… conflicted. Bear in mind that this is coming from the same man who said he would beat his sister if she “fell in love” with Kenneth Meshoe – a statement that could be interpreted as a thinly-veiled exhortation to men to use violence against women who support parties other than the ANC.

No, I haven’t forgotten about that, Mr. President.
