I also disliked Underworld. It seemed so good on paper… you’ve got your vampires, your werewolves, Kate Beckinsdale in a trench coat wielding semi-automatic weaponry, etc. How do you go wrong with a formula like that?

But the actual movie was boring, pretentious, the plot went nowhere, and the fight choreography wasn’t nearly as good as, well… Kill Bill, to use the first example that comes to mind.

Come to think of it, I reckon Kill Bill has the best fight choreography of any American movie in years. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon was clearly superior (and that wasn’t even American, so it doesn’t count), but can you think of anything else? I suppose you could make an argument that the original Matrix (forget the dumb sequels) had better fight scenes than Kill Bill, but even that’s debatable.
